Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the leaders of tomorrow. The challenges they face today will prepare them for the achievements they will strive to make in their lives, their communities and their world, in the future. They and their families inspire me to face any and all obstacles with energy, joy, and hope. They come to school, daily, determined to learn all they can. Putting time and resources into my students is an investment for a bright and promising future for us all.
My Project
The use of a listening center is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in reading. Using the workshop model in reading, students go to reading centers for guided practice and to improve their reading skills. The listening center materials allow me to help many groups of students at once. As one group practices with the CD player and headphones, I can work with another group at the teacher center. A listening center sort of allows there to be two of me at the same time, thus increasing the number of students I am able to serve in a small group setting at a time.

Students will be able to simply focus on improving their reading skills. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology!
