The students at our school are a wonderful group of kids that have passion in everything they do. I’m grateful for the students that take theatre with me and I have enjoyed my years watching them learn more and gain an enthusiastic interest in the performing arts. I want to provide the best for the students because they provide their best in the classroom. I think our school should do the same for them with the facility space we are using for our theatre program.
My Project
The past few years with our performances in theatre, the biggest issue has been hearing our students. One of the biggest dissappintments is during our Spring Musicals when the students have done such hard work throughout the semester, and come performance time it’s so hard to hear their voices over music. If you are in the back of the room, you don’t stand a chance either because the acoustics are not the best at all (we have a stage in the cafeteria, so it’s not built to help move sound). The mics that we have used in the past have always been borrowed from other schools, and most of the time don’t work or don’t seem to work together (because the mics are all different brands and not compatible with the sound system). Having our own and enough of them will make all the difference.
