In Kindergarten, we are in the early stages of reading and talking about books. Kindergarten students benefit greatly from hearing books on tape. Each week, they visit the listening center, where they listen to a book on cd/tape and reflect on it. In order for us to maintain the quality of this center and for the books to follow along with the themes we are teaching, we need more listening center books!
There is something magical about watching a child learn to read and grow in their confidence as a reader.
As teachers, we are fortunate enough to witness this process on a daily basis. Instilling a love of books and reading is something we aim to do everyday. My school works over time to provide a positive academic, social, and emotional environment for our children. We believe one of the best ways to do this is to provide ample opportunities for all children to have equal access to the best teachers and the best books!
My Project
Our students love to read books and listen to stories. As beginning readers, we want to provide ample opportunities for them to hear stories. We also want to foster their excitement for the storytelling and classroom discussion. These listening center books such as I Have a Dream, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and Green Eggs and Ham. will help to do this. Our plan is to share the books among the four kindergarten classes. That way, all of our students have a chance to listen to these new and exciting books. Thank you for all that you do to support your child as a reader, both at home and at school. We are...
