This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school provides opportunities for children from all cultures, areas, and various incomes an opportunity to learn and thrive within the district. Helping to fund my project, you'll become part of a community committed to ensuring that our students make it to and through college.
All of our students receive free meals, over 90% are students of color, and just over 15% are special needs students.
A child that attends our school is four times more likely to graduate from college than their peers, and we hope to see that number continue to rise in the coming years.
My Project
Do you have something to eat? I hear many of my students ask me daily. My students need snacks to ensure they can do their best in class. My students often go without as they live in a high poverty area and a supply of snacks ensures that no child is hungry.
When students ' stomachs are full, they can do their best at school.
I will allow students to have snacks as needed throughout the day. Many children enjoy eating snacks on their way home from school, especially as there isn't a guarantee that there will be snacks at home. In addition to letting the children have snacks are helpful when a child arrives to class late and misses the free breakfast provided at school.
Often, students, main sources of food comes from school so having extra snacks gives students the security of knowing there are extra snacks to keep them nourished.
