This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Do you remember the fear and anxiety of Freshman year in high school? It can be traumatizing entering a new environment where you're constantly told that every decision you make will impact the rest of your life. I currently teach 9th grade English in one of the most diversified public high schools in Humble, Texas where "Best is the Standard"! My students come from all walks of life, but they have one thing in common: a love for learning and growth.
My students are eager to engage in any challenge that comes their way because they believe in our class motto: Progress not Perfection!
Having a growth mindset is at the core of everything we do. We've worked hard to foster a classroom environment full of support, guidance, kindness and challenges. However, due to the diverse nature of my student's backgrounds, I often find students who lack the basics required to maximize their potential in the classroom. Yet, they remain fearless when it comes to tackling any new material that is placed in front of them. However, in order to accomplish their goals, they need to be properly prepared to engage the world around them.
My Project
Wow! 2019 is almost over, school's been in for 3 months and we're already low on supplies!
Help us finish 2019 strong!
We need paper, pens, markers as well as disinfectant wipes to help us finish strong! It's amazing how quickly pens disappear from our classroom, yet students cannot complete the work without one. Anchor charts are designed to help students understand complex concepts, yet the bigger the paper the better the visual! Lastly, when we're feeling creative, what better way to show than with color. Markers are a great way to help our ideas and visions come to life!
