Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Think about coming into a kindergarten classroom with students who have varied ethnic backgrounds and whose primary language is not English. These students often need extra support for learning English but always manage to come to school with the biggest smiles on their faces. Every day, I teach these students who want to learn English, and I teach them how to read and write.
Many of these students do not have English language support at home.
Every day, I immerse them in the English language and help them become successful. My school prides itself on being able to bring students together for creative endeavors. With help from donors, we've already been able to fund multiple successful and engaging projects.
My Project
With two of our recently funded projects, my students have been learning about coding with Bee-Bots. Now that we have experienced coding with Bee-Bot and it was a huge success, it is time to code with Botley. I would love for my students to experience a different way to code and challenge themselves with the materials that Botley comes with. Learning coding at a young age helps children in their future.
Botley will help my kindergartners by teaching them coding and directions.
They will be able to explore, make mazes, and test their ideas on how to make Botley go where they want. The students will be able to do amazing things and have fun while learning. This vital element is often missing from instruction and students can easily become discouraged. Botley will keep my young students eager to learn!
