My Students

Hello, Hola, Xin chào, Hallå, سلام, Kamusta, Olá, ہیلو, 你好, 여보세요, and welcome to this request for health and wellness supplies that benefit energetic and enthusiastic 2nd graders who represent many languages.

These loving children attend a high-poverty inland school in a state that is number 41 in education spending and number 1 in prison spending.

Though they have neither counselors nor teachers for music, art, P.E., the library, or computers, these deserving students benefit from attentive, caring staff and a village of generous supporters. We hope you will help this delightful class of students, ready to air hug, elbow tap, and fist bump, acquire the skills to become confident scholars.

My Project

According to the New York Times, "The academic, social and emotional toll of school closures has been enormous, and well-documented." Grateful students (and parents) are thrilled to have the stability of in-person learning which may safely continue with secure masks. To compensate for their lost year of isolation, we'll use the watercolors, pliers set, and stencils for art and craft projects, the portable speaker, cable, and headset for safe outdoor movement games and folk dancing, and the caterpillars for science exploration, while the books are mentor texts for art and to differentiate learning. Lastly, the puppet and magic tricks kit, specifically curated for 2nd graders, give students opportunities for skill and confidence building as we playfully combine number sense with card, ball, and string tricks.
