Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students fall in different ranges of the autism spectrum. They all do and react to things differently, including learning. Some students need extra visuals while others need some type of sensory stimulation during a lesson, like music. About 3 students can communicate verbally while the rest of the students need picture cards or assistive technology. The materials provided will effectively function each and every students individual need. Parents travel from other counties to receive the proper education for their child.
My Project
Autism is a spectrum disorder and all of my student are different. They each require special acoomations in order to learn and be independent. I like to focus on functional skills in which will lead them to become successful in their own way. The play money is a real world approach to teaching them Math. The sensory items help them calm down and will lead to less outbursts. Toys will be used to reinforce positive behaviors and have a huge impact in an autism classroom. Having these materials will allow me to be the best teacher I can possibly be!
