Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My 2nd grade students at P.S. 115 BEG me to give them time to learn on their favorite piece of technology. I rotate the kids through the computer station for a limited amount of time each day, but I'd love to get them on the computers even more! We are lucky enough to have two working computers in my classroom, and this year we have added programs like Everyday Math Games, which align directly with our math curriculum. Starfall, another 2nd grade favorite, helps students develop fluency and comprehension in reading. I am requesting two mobile computer stations from Lakeshore Learning, so that my students can utilize the computers in a safe, comfortable, and multi-use way. With two outlets in my room, I can have the computers in both areas, with at least two children at each station working together. My students come from a high-poverty, working class neighborhood in Washington Heights, a Dominican neighborhood in New York City. For many of these students, this is their first encounter with computers. Help me make this experience even better! Thank you so much for your consideration!
