My Students

We are a new school in an old building, so all of our furniture is old, uncomfortable, and heavy. The chairs are constructed from hard, heavy, plastic and metal. My students often complain of discomfort while sitting for any amount of time.

I teach an ICT/inclusion classroom which serves a population of both Special Needs and ESL students.

Many of the students have been diagnosed with ADD and the others are kids that are not that good at sitting still! The resources I am requesting will help my kids get their wiggles out as they sit at their desks. I have already received five Hokki stools for my students and they beg to get to use them each day! We have been rotating and taking turns and it has worked, but in an ideal world I would have a stool for each child to use!

My Project

I am requesting two more Hokki stools for my classroom. These stools are lightweight and allow for movement as the kids are working at their desks. The stools have foam seats, which are far more comfortable than the current chairs. The stools allow for subtle movement as the kids work. My goal is to replace all of our heavy, outdated chairs with these stools. The children can easily move these stools to other parts of the classroom, including the meeting area. For many of my students, sitting on the rug is uncomfortable, so this eliminates that problem as well; the kids can easily move the stool from their desk to the meeting area.

Think about how you feel when you are stuck sitting at your desk or in a meeting.

You have a chair that allows some movement with wheels or it bounces. Now imagine doing that on really hard plastic chairs that don't move. My students deserve the same level of comfort as you do.
