Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a great group of 2nd-grade students at a school that emphasizes becoming well-rounded global citizens. While we are diverse in many ways, as a whole, our school's population qualifies us as a Title I school. This means we have a large population of students who rely on assistance from resources like our free lunch program.
My class is full of energetic, curious, creative and kind boys and girls.
They love to ask questions, explore, create, investigate and learn.
My Project
I am encouraged by the excitement of my students when they learn something new. In the same way, I want to help facilitate new experiences for them to develop important characteristics like empathy and compassion.
Kids should be able to experience that they have the chance to see issues in their world and to do something about it!
With the supplies listed, we are targeting two different service projects to help in our community. We will make no-sew blankets with the fleece in order for kids who may be in transitional housing. Also, the small items will be placed into the baggies to make "busy bags" for kids who are being treated for medical conditions and may need to spend time away from home.
