Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students’ families have chosen to have their children attend my school in order to succeed. Many do better at our school with the smaller class sizes and more one on one time tailored to their specific needs. The school services students of many ethnicities and cultural backgrounds. Right now I am teaching two classes combined so I need more materials to supply two classrooms.

My Project

Since we are now in person I have a lot more students I will be educating. We cannot share supplies still and I am teaching a combined third grade of 26 students. I want to make sure that each student has access to the same materials in a safe environment.

These materials will make it easier for students to develop better number sense and allow them to physically manipulate pieces to make numbers for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

The skills of regrouping and borrowing are difficult for many of my students and these hands-on pieces will help them understand and love math better!
