Many of the students in my school are diagnosed with either ADHD or ADHD, however, this does not stop them from learning. Many of the students also struggle with social interaction, while some do not. Even though a large majority of the students at my school are on IEPs, they still arrive in class, eager to learn about the many aspects of music, ranging from jazz, playing recorder, playing guitar, and even recording their own piece of music! Nothing stops my students from success!
My Project
The DJ controller will be used in our music technology class when we learn about DJ'ing. The students will use the controller in conjunction with Vitual DJ to experience DJ'ing in the classroom. Without the technology, the students won't be able to experience creating music in a different and unique way. By having this piece of technology, creating, remixing, and creating mash-ups, we won't have to rely on simply taking notes. They will be able to learn how to beat-match, back-spin, assign hotcues, and crossfade between songs.
In addition to being used in the classroom, the DJ controller will be used at school dances.
This will avoid having gaps between songs and awkward silences where there is supposed to be music. Having this hardware will allow me to fade between songs and not have to worry about having silence. There will be a smooth transition between songs.
Having these supplies will help my students grow academically as well as give them possible career interests. A lot of my students have interest in electronic music and R&B, and by exposing them to this technology and career field could possibly give them a career.
