Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My music students love singing, playing instruments, and a-movin' and a-groovin'. Each class is filled with smart, talented, and hard working individuals who love to create and perform.
I have the privilege of seeing every student in the school, teaching preschool through fifth grade music.
My students have a wide range of learning abilities, from special needs individuals to gifted. Fortunately, music has the ability to reach all of their needs.
In my Title One classroom, we work on supporting each other's ideas, confidence to share and express those ideas, as well as just having fun and enjoying what music has to offer!
My Project
The materials requested will be used for both kindergarten and first grade students to creatively make their own musical instruments. Students love any chance they can get to play instruments, and what better way then to have them make their own! After creating our homemade tambourines, the little ones will be able to play along with some of their favorite music class songs.
One of the major music standards is for students to create and perform.
With making their own instruments, they can individually put together how they want their tambourine to look. They can show pride dancing along with their classmates playing their very own instrument they made. What better way to let students be creative then putting creativity into their own tiny hands!
