Diving Into the Worlds of Reading

My Students

Although I have not yet met my students, I cannot wait to get to know each and every one of them. My class is made up of nineteen students and each of my students will benefit from this project, on a daily basis. This will be my first year teaching and I am really looking forward to starting out in third grade.

This project will assist me in creating a positive learning environment that fosters teamwork and communication.

My students deserve a class where they feel comfortable and excited to learn.

My Project

My students need a space in the classroom, where they can be comfortable, stay focused, and learn. It is not easy to stay focused when sitting in a hard chair all day, which is why a large rug in the classroom is so important. This classroom rug and reading bench will be used daily for Morning Meetings, read-alouds, whole group lessons, and independent reading.

When the whole class gathers at the carpet, it helps students build a stronger sense of community.

I would like my students to feel connected to their classmates and also to be able to really enjoy a good book at the rug. The bench will also be used as a seating option for students, during independent reading time and for assignments.
