Students that attend our school come from various types of backgrounds and neighborhoods and it intrigues me to learn about each and every one of them! Our school is located in a small town and in our building and classrooms, we are a family. These students love to read, discuss, and create!
I want my class to be successful and to have the materials they need to be successful.
In our classroom, we have a strong focus for non-fiction. We explore non-fiction on a daily basis such as studying text features and discussing new facts learned from the topic of the book. We have a need for more non-fiction texts for my students to enjoy! We must build our classroom library!
My Project
These non-fiction texts will help us build up our classroom library. In our class we explore and study various types of non-fiction. We look into the different text features and how to use them!
The students work with a discussion partner during these reading lessons and after a read a loud they turn and talk to their partner and discuss various things from new facts they learned to making text to self connections.
After our whole group lessons students break individually and select a book to read independently and afterwards discuss their own book with their partner. These books will be great to add to our classroom non-fiction collection.
