I work with second language learners, in my classroom I will have many different languages at one time. These students are working on developing their language skills. Many of these students are new to the country and have limited exposure to the academic English language.
Many of my second language learners love to read books!
My students are eager, excited and motivated to learn. We work together to bring their culture into the classroom. I would love to provide the students with the opportunity to continue growing in the English language.
My Project
While using wordless picture books the students will be able to expand their English vocabulary. These books will provide opportunities for daily oral language practices, providing visual support so they can expand on their background knowledge. The students' culture or heritage will also be brought into the classroom.
By donating to this projects, these students will expand their oral language and have a better understanding of each other's culture.
The students will enjoy adding to, their vocabulary and improve on their language skills. Students will be able to use the skills and knowledge that go into listening and speaking. Build a strong relationship using illustrations to promote literacy and improve comprehension skills. What a wonderful way to be able to bring in books to work on oral language development and learning about each other's culture.
