Dividing Our Shared Special Education Classroom

My Project

We are teachers of special needs students for first grade and second grade in a low-income/high poverty Title I school in Delaware. Our students are faced with many challenges on a daily basis in and out of school. They come to school to work hard in an environment that embraces their learning challenges and helps them succeed.

Throughout the day, we teach our students to become independent thinkers who will do the right thing in challenging situations and persevere through difficulties.

Our students support one another creating an inviting learning community where they feel comfortable taking risks.

Our project is for two three panel room dividers. The first and second grade special education teachers share a classroom with one another and need a way to help reduce visual and sound distractions in the classroom. At different times during they day between the two grade levels there may be up to 20 or more special education students learning. Room dividers will help both grades work within the room together while limiting distractions and helping students focus.
