My students need four sets of privacy partitions and one set of lapboards.
Blecch! When I ask my students to get out their partitions for a test, they groan. Why? Because our classroom privacy dividers are nasty, old, and tattered.
My fourth graders live in a working class and immigrant neighborhood.
Most of them are learning English as a second language, some have special needs, and all of them love to learn. Our Title I school is an important safe haven for my kids, who are surrounded by poverty and gang activity.
A privacy partition is a three-fold cardboard partition that stands up on its own. Students use them to create a distraction-free space at their desks so they can focus on an important assignment or test. Our privacy dividers are over ten years old and getting pretty worn out. They have huge rips that have been repaired numerous times over the years, and some even have huge holes that expose them to their neighbor. All of them have collected about ten years of dirt. We use these dividers daily when we need to quiet down or focus on writing assignments or tests. We are asking for four sets of privacy partitions to make a total of 40, plus one set of 10 lapboards to replace some worn out whiteboards.
Thanks to your generous donation, we can freshen up our collection of privacy partitions.
Finally my students will be able to create a clean private space so they can focus on the task at hand. My students and I thank you!
