Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Future doctors, football players, artists, scientists, architects, teachers, entrepreneurs and so much more... those are my students. Every year I meet a diverse group of 4 and 5-year-olds from San Diego and watch them grow and learn so much. They are dedicated to creativity, play, and kindness as vehicles for their education. Through project-based learning, my students are able to engage in hands-on experiences that bring in real-life connections. My students constantly explore the world around them and are change-makers in their community.
My Project
All children want to be seen and valued in their community. By providing my young students with diverse literature I am helping them feel comfortable in their classroom as well as build empathy for others.
I am dedicated to providing equitable and culturally responsive instruction throughout all subjects and materials.
The books I have chosen for this project have main characters that look like and represent the cultures of the children in my room- this helps them realize their importance and acceptance in their new environment. I have also chosen many books featuring all kinds of families to help my class practice respect and kindness for all.
