Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a teacher of students in grades 6 to 8. All of my students are diverse learners. They have special needs ranging from mild learning disabilities to social/emotional difficulties. I teach math and science. My kids are from a working class, low-income area. We are a very family-oriented school and have great family involvement.
We can grow in our learning if we just have our needs met.
Any extra materials or technology received by my class offers the students a more enriching education.
My Project
For this project, I am requesting foam boards for history fair presentations for my students. Being the special education teacher, it’s often hard to help the children decide on topics for these kinds of projects. This year, however, so many students in our class choose projects about diversity and cultural aspects of history. For me, this was both amazing and heartwarming.
My students wanted to study about their identity through the eyes of history.
Topics chosen include Gay Pride Alliance, History of Special Olympics as well as the IDEA Act. These projects will give us a more educated perspective on these important topics.
