Diversity Matters!

My Students

Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning. My students are thoughtful, creative and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow problem solving. My energetic kindergarteners enter the classroom ready to discover, explore, and learn.

I teach Kindergarten at a school that's the oldest lasting African American founded school (since 1966) in Houston, Texas.

We serve the community by providing children the best resources and access to an education that will propel them to be individuals who will create an impact in a variety of ways. We are shaping minds and instilling onto students confidence, strong morals and character, creativity, and outstanding leadership skills that will influence society in the most positive of ways.

My Project

In school, many children bring in a box of crayons that have 24+ colors represented in that box. The one vital aspect that is not accurately represented is the students' diverse skin colors. Students should be able to draw pictures of themselves and accurately show their skin color and recognize that every skin color is beautiful.

Crayola Colors of the World will help my students celebrate diversity and colorfully express themselves!

I want my students to know that I see the differences in their skin colors and that we love them and see them as beautiful! I want them to be able to represent themselves through art using colors that match them.
