My kindergartners are growing in the same, small rural community where I grew up, inside the same four walls that made me a teacher.
I have a classroom full of some of the best, kindest, bravest hard workers who have a love for learning.
We live in a rural area where many of my students face so many challenges before they even come to school, yet each and every one of my students come into our room every day ready to grow their minds and hearts. This year, we are working hard to become a team, giving our best effort, and learning that everyone's a teacher and everyone's a learner. I love that I have future America in my classroom and I want to give them the skills and tools they need to be successful.
I have requested these specific titles because it goes along with a year-long curriculum that meet academic requirements while still discussing topics about diversity and social/ emotional needs. In kindergarten, it is important for us to understand that everyone is different and everyone has value.
Reading books with diverse characters helps them create a kinder world around them through deeper understanding.
All of these titles have lessons that will help me teach to the Colorado State Standards while also keeping my class engaged, having fun, and using their imagination to create!
