Help me give my students access to diverse literature. Since losing our Library/Media Specialist in our most recent budget cut, access to rich literature is at risk. Help our students continue to open their minds.
I work with our most struggling learners. "My" kids are eager to learn, desperate to achieve but scared to fail. They have spent the majority of their school career feeling inadequate and being the "slow" kids.
The truth is, they're so much more than what they believe.
They're creative, innovative, worthy of quality education, and out-of-the-box thinkers who need someone to understand that a new approach to learning will be the best way to succeed. They also need to learn how to take risks in learning in order to push themselves beyond where they are, to where they need to be to succeed.
These kids are the heart of our school and they deserve a champion to cheer them on and watch them grow.
My Project
Access to diversity, inclusion, and anti-racist ideals is the key to ensuring a socially just society. We must do better for our students so that they may do better for our world. Giving to this project will help to ensure access to diverse literature continues even though we lost our librarian in the last round of budget cuts. Our library needs the help of the community to continue to provide access to diversity and inclusion for all learners.
Middle School students need to see themselves as essential members of society.
Access to literature to reframe thinking and cause a cultural shift is paramount to this belief.
