Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My eighth grade students come from a low social-economic background, and yet they still manage to come to class eager to learn every day. They are highly motivated and love using technology in the classroom. They understand the importance of a good education and the role technology plays in their education. Our school is a Title I school and all of our students receive free lunch.
My students are enthusiastic learners!
They work hard and always put their best effort forward. And as such, I am always looking for the best ways to capture their attention and provide the best lessons that I can.
My Project
I want to continue to instill the love of reading for my students. To do that, I want to give my students access to a variety of diverse books. Books that they can relate to. With these books, my students will be able to read not just about kids like them but about other kids from different backgrounds. Having access to these diverse sets of books will give my students the opportunity to gain a better perspective of themselves and others. These books will make our classroom and library a more inclusive space for everyone.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will open the door to a variety of people and backgrounds.
Providing this diverse, print rich environment will help my students learn through engaging texts. It will encourage them to pick up a book.
