My class is located near a major military base, so we have students from all over the U. S. Some parents are from other countries, which gives us an opportunity to learn about other cultures. Most of the families are low to middle class.
All of my students are exceptional.
Disabilities are varied and include students with language delays, Autism, Down Syndrome, and Developmental Delays. For many of my students, this may be their first experience with care outside of the home.
The main goal is to provide students with the opportunity to grow and learn. Adding to our Library will help students develop a love for books/reading as well as help with cognitive/language development.
My Project
I have requested items that will help my students build language, learn about diversity and increase their math skills. The Family Play sets will be used throughout the year to help students learn about families. They will learn through play that families can be made up of people that look alike and of people that may look nothing alike.
The other materials will be used to reinforce class themes.
The transportation puzzle will be added to our transportation unit and the measuring tape will help build math skills.
The supplies that I have requested will remain available during Learning Center Time, so that the students may continue to reinforce and enhance their learning.
