Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My middle school students come from all socioeconomic backgrounds and they all want to become better versions of themselves each day. They strive for independence, yet yearn for structure and guidance to combat their own personal problems, improve their academic performance, and social and life skills.

My students encompass multiple capabilities, talents, and strengths they have yet to fully discover.

They need exposure, motivation, and guidance to help them have a more positive mindset that fosters diversity. Distance learning has been challenging for all of us: teachers, students, and parents and it makes us look beyond our four walls. Your donation of this set of books and art items will give my students the opportunity to grow their perspectives and show them what diversity can bring to our society.

My Project

The novel "Seedfolks" is a story about how people from different walks of life come together to make life better by taking part in a community garden. This book will help my students learn that when people come together, we all become better. They will understand how they all can make positive changes around us to make a more equitable world. Food brings people together; it always has and it always will. Each student will be able to read the story and take what they learn to paint a canvas of what diversity looks like in their world.
