Help me give my students new books that highlight the importance of African American history. I want my students to be able to celebrate February as diversity month with books they will be excited to read!
My 4th grade students are explorers, inventors, and huge fans of the arts! Each is talented in their own right, but one thing that unites them all is that they have a hunger to love others. They are definitely a diverse bunch of youngsters and they strive to be better people on a daily basis.
One of the over-arching goals of my Social Studies class for my 4th graders is to teach them the value of positive and uplifting interaction with each other.
My Project
My goal with this project is to encourage my students to not only read more non-fiction, but to get them excited to learn about African American history.
Diversity is our strength.
That will be my motto in my classroom the whole month of February. I will be showcasing every single book that I am requesting through this project.
Every student will be at least walking away with a little more knowledge that our differences make us stronger and actually can work to connect us all on a deeper level: We are all human beings seeking understanding and positive connections with those around us.
