Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a large urban public school. Its also a very ethnically diverse school. Students speak a multitude of languages including English, Spanish, Hindi, Bengali, and Arabic. We are a happy and eager school. Our teachers love to teach and our students love to learn.
As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are also diverse in their academics and the resource tools needed to better their education.
Our school district lacks the funding to give all students the tools needed for them to succeed. My students don't let that bother them though. They come to school eager to learn and to become a better citizen.
I teach fourth grade Social Studies and Science. I have three classes of 25-30 students. Each class, is eager to learn, but our lack of resources hinder their opportunities. Unfortunately, these students don't receive the tools needed to fully succeed, like their peers from other districts.
My students DESERVE the same as everyone else. Please help us achieve this!!
My Project
I am asking for a Continents of the World Activity Chest, Lakeshore Glue Sticks, Write & Wipe markers, and Staples binders to help promote diversity and multicultural customs in the classroom.
In social studies we will be learning geography.
Students will need to know all the continents, oceans, and countries. Each student will research, analyze and create a poster about a given country. We will also have a multicultural feast at the end of our unit.
These games and binders will help us research and keep organized during this unit. It will give us a chance to experience many cultures and countries at once. What’s the best way for kids to learn??....disguise it as a game of course!!!
