My students are a wonderful group of kids. I work in a school that services all different socioeconomic students. My students love learning. They love writing and reading. They love math and work so hard to master the skills they need to. I am so proud of all the hard work I see them put in, day in and day out.
All my students come from different homes and different cultural backgrounds.
They are such a sweet group of students with so much potential and I want to do all I can to help them achieve!
My Project
"The faces that greet our students from our bookshelves can be as powerful as the ones that greet them at the door." - Jessica Lifshitz
One vital part of my job as an educator is teaching children how to read!
One major part of this is teaching students to fall in love with reading and to look at books as great adventures they can embark on. One important part of this is children need to be able to connect and see themselves in the books they read. My classroom is full of students from different cultures, families, and economic backgrounds. Many children's books do not allow different cultures to see themselves on the pages of the books they are reading. My desire is for all my students to feel empowered and visible through the books they find in their reading libraries. I hope that you join me in this by helping me add quality, diverse books that will allow my students to see themselves in the characters of their books!
I have selected 29 high quality and highly reviewed books that show a diverse selection of characters! With these books, students can connect on a deeper level and I can use them for incredible teaching opportunities. Please help me foster the love of reading in my students through these incredible books!
