This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I am the literacy specialist at my school, and I would love to purchase more books for my classroom library. My students are amazing emerging readers that would benefit from a more diversified library. I believe that to foster the love of reading, students need to have books that they like and that are culturally relevant. Teaching reading to a lot of students that are reading at different levels has made me realize that I need more books so that my kids always have something that they are interested in to read.
