My Students
I have had the pleasure of spending my first year teaching with an incredible group of 5th graders. My students are extremely curious, intuitive, and wise beyond their years. Their patience and ability to not only adapt to change, but to do so with a positive attitude, is extremely admirable.
My Project
These books will make a difference in my classroom because, as a first year teacher, my classroom library has a long ways to go. My students have a wide variety of subjects they enjoy reading about. The most common of these subjects is history. My students love to read about historical events and to learn about perspectives other than their own. As a teacher at a school with a predominantly white community, that at times is not always the most open minded, it is my job to provide my students with varying perspectives from a variety of cultures so that they can grow up with empathy and respect towards all people.
