My students attend a small school in West Virginia. We are a Title I school and are located in a low socioeconomic town. Our students walk through the door every day eager to learn and willing to embrace new experiences.
I want my students to feel empowered to become lifelong learners that can face any challenge that may come their way.
Many come from broken homes and the drug epidemic is high in our area, but our students are continually trying to rise above. They are filled with passion and hope. Our motto is to believe in ourselves, and with that belief, anything is possible.
Nelson Mandela once said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Our staff and our students work hard to make that a reality.
My Project
Literature is a powerful tool that can teach so many key skills. My students love to learn through the use of picture books. It helps them relate to many concepts taught in class.
Kids have a thirst for knowledge about the world around them.
These picture books will help students learn about other cultures, customs, and encourage diversity. It is my hope that by teaching students about other cultures, they will become more accepting of the world around them. I want my students to be well rounded and to have kindness for all. These books will help create that culture of understanding and acceptance.
