This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Walk into my classroom and you will see 25 students noisily engaged in learning. Some students may be working together on a puzzle, building an obstacle course for robots, counting with math manipulatives, curled up with a book or working with me in a small group. As a visitor, these students look very similar, but as their teacher, I know which student may not have had supper last night, who stayed with older siblings while Mom worked a second job, whose parents are getting a divorce and which one is homeless and living in a shelter.
Our classroom is a family.
We may not begin the year that way but it is definitely how we end the year. We laugh, cry and celebrate with each other. We care. We love.
My Project
Testing in kindergarten takes up way too much of our time. We need to assess our students in order to give them the individual help they need. In kindergarten, this usually requires one-on-assessments that eat up much of day.
In order to offer my students the diversified curriculum they need, I must be able to gauge their level quickly and efficiently.
After 41 and a half years of teaching, ESGI is the answer to my problem. Assessments are fast, efficient and usually painless. The best part is that I can design the assessments I need. ESGI has been a huge time saver in my classroom. Unfortunately, my subscription has ended and I would love to renew it.
