My students need new, relatable, diverse books in their hands. These books give them a chance to see themselves in literature.

My Students

My class is a group of 18 intelligent, empowered, diverse, motivated students. My students and their families come from 6 different countries. 80% of them are eligible for free and reduced lunch. 9 out of my 18 students are English Language Learners. This means that English is not their first language. Even though a lot of my students have to over come that language barrier. They don't let it stop them. Each day they are willing to learn and try their best!

My Project

These students deserve to have culturally diverse books in their hands! Many students want to learn more about their own culture or other students' cultures and sometimes don't have the resources to do so.

Having these amazing books will enable students to see themselves in book as well as learn about other cultures than their own.

Also, when students see themselves in literature, it brings a new found love for reading and writing. Students become motivated and inspired that there are people out in the world going through hardships or issues just like them. Let's help to get these books in their hands!
