Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am a first year teacher who will be teaching a 5th grade class in a diverse district with students who have various needs!

I expect my students to come from diverse backgrounds with various needs.

The school district I will be working in is diverse and has students with different abilities, cultures, and backgrounds sitting within their classrooms. I want to be able to provide a diverse classroom library for my students so they may see themselves in the literature they read! Therefore, I have incorporated a plethora of books within this project I hope my students will have exposure to.

My Project

These books will help make a difference in my students learning through allowing pathways of knowledge in literature to reveal different cultures, backgrounds, and life experiences from diverse people within America. It will also help students to see themselves in literature and relate to people who are different than them!

Community will be built within my classroom through the acceptance of all people.

Therefore, giving my students an opportunity to be exposed to history, culture, and experiences of all people will allow them to celebrate diversity in the world around them and be able to communicate and interact as global citizens!
