Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My incredibly hard-working students are ready to transform into lifelong learners! We represent a small multicultural elementary school tucked away on the southwest side of Chicago. Many of my students are ELLs and have diverse learning needs. The social-emotional needs of my students often require small group instruction where the interventions are targeted at their level. The students I work with range from Kindergarten to grade 4. My students are eager to learn to read and we can't wait to get started!
My Project
My students need a multi sensory approach to support learning. In order to fully access the general education curriculum, many of my students benefit from engaging in sensory stimulation in order to fully engage in new material. Specifically, the bands for the bottoms of their chairs will help my students focus on a task for an extended period of time. The pencil grips will support my students' fine motor needs. Sensory chews will provide positive oral stimulation for my students that require this ongoing input. My students will benefit from all of these items by making it easier for them to participate in the general education full inclusive day.
