My students are a multi-cultural group of Pre-K students. They speak many different languages including English, Korean, Spanish, and Chinese, but the one thing that unites us is our creativity!
Our school is a Title I school in Washington, DC.
My students are working hard to build their social-emotional and academic skills and are fascinated by the world around them. As Pre-K students and English language learners, we need a variety of ways to express ourselves and communicate what we have learned.
My Project
The tortilla warmer, stir fry set, comal, and sushi mats will be placed in the dramatic play center. Students will be able to interact with familiar and unfamiliar items, prompting conversation and language acquisition. Books such as "A Nest in Springtime" and "Abuela" will allow students and their parents to read in their home languages while books like "Round is a Mooncake: A Book of Shapes" and "Green is a Chile Pepper: A Book of Colors" will expose all students to a variety of languages and cultures.
