Diverse Learners: Meeting the Needs of Every Child
Help me give my students comfortable seating to differentiate instruction, conduct intervention, and/or provide additional support to those students who need it.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach a group of inquisitive 4th graders. What makes them so special is their dedication to learning and their willingness to always try their absolute best - no matter how difficult the task may be. They absolutely love working collaboratively and assisting peers who appear to struggle in class. They are caring, respectful and take accountability for their learning. They are reflective in their learning and of their actions as well. Each day, they aspire to become more productive citizens who pride themselves in making the world a better place by being “a little more kinder.”
My Project
Having a kidney table will provide a specific location, in the classroom, for students and I to meet, discuss, remediate and/or enrich targeted standards. It will also provide a more intimate and comfortable setting for groups of students to discuss their educational weaknesses and/or strengths with the teacher and work with groups of students who share the same weaknesses and/or strengths as well. Being able to meet with groups of students and provide targeted instruction will make a huge difference in student learning because it will allow me to meet the specific need of each child; which in turn will increase students’ academic performance.
