I teach full-day Kindergarten in an Oklahoma school that values learning through the multiple intelligences. We know the importance of kinesthetic and visual learning as well as the impact of learning when it's tied to music. The students in our classrooms come from a variety of social, academic, and economic backgrounds. In spite of our differences, we are building a school wide community that embraces connections made across grade levels.
In the early childhood grades, we are focused on giving children consistency through literacy experiences, especially phonics instruction.
My Project
These books will be used during our whole group read aloud to develop our comprehension as early readers while also becoming a part of our classroom library. Children need to see children they identify with in books that are shared in our classroom as we build our classroom community, problem solve and build our confidence as individuals.
These books will not only build their confidence while answering questions but allow children to ask bigger, deeper questions as they learn and grow while they see characters just like them!
Can you help diversify our learning as we see ourselves in the characters of the books we read?
