In our classroom, we have seventeen, inquisitive, innovative, and interesting first graders! We are a college-town community nestled among Michigan Fans - Go Blue! Our school is committed to inspiring our students to be leaders and to take responsibility for their learning and their actions. We strive to create independence in our students, even our young learners. This year will be a unique adventure, and we are ready for the challenge and excitement! Thank you for contributing to help #TEAMstull learn and grow!
My Project
The books we use offer a valuable opportunity to bring our students' languages, cultures, histories, and voices into our classrooms. They also provide the opportunity to introduce students to a wide range of diverse stories that reflect different perspectives and experiences — both theirs and others. These books will help our classroom library be representative of our student body and their lived experiences.
“Literature transforms human experience and reflects it back to us, and in that reflection we can see our own lives and experiences as part of the larger human experience.”
--Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop, 1990. From Perspectives: Choosing and Using Books for the Class room, 6(3), ix-xi.is.
It is important for children to understand why family holidays and traditions are important while also appreciating the customs and traditions of other cultures. This way they can have a well-rounded and realistic view of the world. Thank you for your consideration in supporting our classroom!
