I work at an inclusive school in Los Angeles that serves all students, no matter their needs. My school fosters such a sense of community, I know we are helping students to make kinder and more mindful choices now and in the future.
My school places an emphasis, not only on this sense of community, but on hands-on learning experiences and project-based learning.
This builds our students' confidence and sense of social responsibility while addressing rigorous contents standards at the same time.
My Project
I picked these materials because I know they will help each of my incredibly diverse learners express themselves in a variety of ways. Art materials help them express their social-emotional selves. Chart paper helps us come together as a community. And sensory materials help my learners express and explore their feelings in a safe way. We have one set up ‘people color’ crayons in our classroom right now and my kiddos are always asking for more - I want my kids to come to school excited knowing that they can express their inner and outer feelings in a way that represents their true selves!
