Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A kindergarten/first grade combination class of English learners requires a number of strategies to access language development and reading.
Our class consists of students coming from diverse cultures.
Almost all of my students have first languages other than English. They are 19 Kindergarteners and 5 First graders. In our class we practice being nice with each other. My students are eager and enthusiastic about learning.
My Project
My class would benefit immensely from the addition of a CD player and earphones. The independent read along can be targeted for different levels of proficiency and provides an opportunity for differentiated instruction. Furthermore, our class needs to listen and sing along with songs that promote language development.
Our school consists almost entirely of free lunch eligible students.
We do not have access to many educational aids nor are we able to replace old equipment. Our class loves to sing along and read along that will allow the teacher to promote interactive learning experience.
