Our class is diverse in race, ethnicity and socioeconomic status. Each and every one of them brings something special to our class. Some students are on IEPs or receive Title I services. There truly is something special about second graders.
Saying that my students are eager to learn is an understatement!
My class thoroughly enjoys learning new things, and they bring so much energy into our classroom. Their enthusiasm is contagious. They make learning in our classroom fun and exciting to be a part of!
My Project
When building my classroom library, my goal is to have books that reflect the students in my classroom. I want my children to see themselves and their classmates in the characters of the books they're reading. Over the years, I have purchased many diverse picture books for my students to read, but this is not enough!
We are lacking chapter books with kids of color, and that has to change!
Books should be windows and mirrors. The books in this project all have main characters who are kids of color.
