Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a first-year kindergarten teacher who supports a class of amazing kiddos. I have an inclusive classroom that services a number of diverse students. My students amaze me every day with their kindness and desire to learn that they display in the classroom.

I want to be able to provide my students with an amazing experience in the classroom that rivals any classroom in higher-income districts.

My district services mostly low-income students so I do not want to ask parents to provide anything for the classroom. I know that district money is needed elsewhere to provide students with the services they need outside the classroom.

My Project

I have a classroom full of amazing students who are all incredibly unique. I want to ensure that our library represents all of the unique students who come through my classroom. The books I have selected here show students of different cultures, skin tones, ability levels, and gender identities. They will be displayed in our classroom library to ensure that every student feels seen and loved in their classroom. Students will have access to them to peruse through during independent reading time. And I will use them as read alouds to teach things like concepts of print and rhyme.
