This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hello! I work in the downtown Phoenix area. I work with a great group of 4th-grade students in a low-income area. My students are the most engaged because of the way their classroom is set up. These students have proven to me that they are capable of so much and I want to be able to provide them with proven and effective methods and materials.

It is important to me to make my students love the learning process.

In order to do so, we want to make the classroom community one full of choice, collaboration, movement and comfort. A classroom that has top notch book choices that make the students fall in love with characters and books is important for my students.

My Project

All students deserve to be represented in the stories and the movies that we read and watch. I have requested a unique set of books that would better represent the students that I teach. These books have been carefully selected to do just that!

These books have main characters that my students will connect with.

I am hopeful that by having a diverse set of novels in my classroom my students will be drawn to reading new and exciting stories. Some of these novels include books like, Who Is Booker T Washington, the Mya Tibbs series and books about historical figures such as Malala, Simone Manuel and Harriet Tubman.
