Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are interesting. I enjoy hearing their questions and their laughs. I love seeing their faces and especially their smiles. I have been teaching for a long time at the same school and have seen a variety of students...
I love my job it is my dream come true!
I also LOVE reading aloud to students. I love the messages a book can teach a child. We have learned a lot from read alouds. Some of the things we have learned about are love, hate, kindness, being different, and learning to accept others. I especially enjoy having books that teach about diversity. When I was young, I yearned for books with characters like me. There are so many new books coming out my budget cannot keep up.
Books teach us! Kids love being read to! I love reading books to kids and they hearing them. The coolest thing is when I am done with the book and put it on the shelf the students cannot wait to put it in his/her book box to read.
My Project
Everyday after our first recess the students come to the carpet. They sit down excited to hear a dynamic read aloud. We have learned about so many different people, different events in history, and about a variety of character traits. I believe it is so important to read to children as much as you can in elementary school. It takes the burden off of them trying to read and just lets them enjoy the story.
Diverse students need diverse books, with the new books we will learn about Michael Jordan "Salt in His Shoes", Jack Cousteau "Manfish", and how we can learn to change our behavior from "Each Kindness".
We are ready for these new books to take us to new places, to discover new things, and to help us understand our world. Books are so special. I cannot wait to share these books with my students.
