My Students

Our students are dynamic and curious learners! We are a Title 1 school and a national Blue Ribbon School!

Our school has grown into a diverse community of students, parents, and staff since we became a Fine Arts Academy in 2015.

We celebrate that diversity and work to instill an appreciation of all cultures in our students.

Many of our students do not have access to books at home, and they rely on our school library to check out high-quality books.

My Project

These books for our library will be used to help our students learn about people and cultures that are NOT like them, with a secondary goal of teaching them empathy for others. I strive to have the most diverse collection of quality books available for your students.

The reading program I am creating is called "READ WOKE!" and students will read books about characters and people who are different from themselves.

Students in upper grades will do community service by reading to students in lower grades, and all students will earn a READ WOKE! t-shirt at the end of the program.
