These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. Many of my students arrived as refugees from all over the world. They need diverse books that include and celebrate their distinct experiences. Students will be able to choose books which will help them see themselves as future leaders and valuable contributors. In addition to diverse books, funding this project allows me to select teacher created differentiated resources on Teachers Pay Teachers. These materials are designed for students with unique learning styles and at with a wide range of academic performance levels.
With these new books, my students will be able to select books at their reading and interest level.
We will use these books in literary circles and advisory independent reading time. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word. Increasing their confidence is key to their academic and personal futures.
