Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a departmentalized reading and language arts teacher, I am so lucky that my classroom can be shared with so many students throughout the day! My students come from all types of backgrounds and experiences, ranging from middle class backgrounds to those who are economically disadvantaged. Our school is not considered Title I, but we are about 58% economically disadvantaged.
However, while many of my students are economically disadvantaged, their outstanding creativity and passion for knowledge is their advantage!
By creating a space where collaboration and teamwork is encouraged, my students' third grade year will build the foundation for their love of learning.
My Project
We are ready to jump back into a new school year with wonderful new books in our classroom library! I have a classroom full of diverse learners who would benefit from diverse books. Our classroom library is full of choices, but these books will add even more choice for my students. These incredible students are from all types of backgrounds and cultures. I want to make sure that every student is represented in picture books that we read together. The books selected have been found to be great additions to any classroom library. I am hopefull that my students will also be able to enjoy them with your kind donations.
